This type of story it is very satisfying for the Telegrafik team, and gives meaning to our work. We wanted to share the unfolding of events with you. This illustrates the value of intelligent telecare devices to make people safer in their homes, and the limits of fall detection wristbands or triggers.

The events took place on Sunday at around 12:30pm. Louise fell limply in her bathroom. She could have got up, but she quickly realised that she could not do it alone. So she waited.

Moments later, someone knocked at the door. She recognised the voice of her neighbour, Marcel: “Louise, Louise, where are you?”. Louise was then helped up by Marcel, who was able to enter the house thanks to the key box installed outside.

That day, it was the Otono-me service that warned the telecare operator with whom Louise had subscribed. The telecare operator was then able to alert Marcel, unable to reach Louise via intercom. Louise was wearing a fall detection wristband at the time of the event. Nevertheless, as she fell “gently”, the system did not detect it.
